Privacy & GDPR Policy
The European Regulation No. 2016/679 of 27 April 2016, or General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), came into force in May 2018. This is a European wide law and as such affects how we use and store information we receive from guests and enquirers. It covers all data, whether electronic or paper based. As a French business, we comply with French legislation made in furtherance of the GDPR.

When you make a booking with us we collect the names of all the guests who will be staying, the home address, email address and telephone number of the person making the booking, together with any other relevant information that you might provide to us.
Online Travel Agencies (“OTAs”)
If you book with us through an OTA such as AirBnB or booking.com, they may pass to us certain personal information concerning you and your fellow guests. The OTAs have also to comply with GDPR regulations and have their own safeguards and policies.
How we use the Information you give us.
Any details that we hold in relation to you, whether received directly or via an OTA, are kept secure and encrypted on our system via password controlled entry. We do not need explicit consent for this.
We will not use your telephone number(s) unless we need to contact you for non marketing purposes, or if we cannot reach you by email.
We will never pass your information to any third party (other than under compulsion of law) and, other than set out in the section entitled ‘marketing’ below, your information is not used for any other purpose.
Marketing
We may send marketing emails to you from time to time. To unsubscribe, please send a return email to us marked ‘unsubscribe’. We will not contact you via telephone, SMS or by ordinary post for marketing purposes.
We market our gites through various OTAs, through Social Media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and through our own website www.letriskele.com. We will not post any of your identifiable personal information on these sites.
We use cookies on our website: cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. Please see our Cookie Policy for more information.
If you choose to follow us on Social Media, we do not need consent as you have already accepted the terms & conditions of that platform.
Access to your Information
You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. If you would like a copy of this please email us at letriskelecottages@gmail.com
Right to be Forgotten
All customers have the right to ask us to remove their details from our records. However, please note that this does not override any legislative requirements with which we are obliged to comply.
For example, we are required by law to keep guest details and their associated financial transaction records for 7 years, so guests cannot ask to be erased from our records within that timeframe.
Notification of Data Breaches
The GDPR will require us to notify the French Data Protection Authority (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés) within 72 hours of first having become aware of the breach where that breach is likely to “result in a risk for the rights and freedoms of individuals”. For any breach, we are required to notify the customers “without undue delay” after we first becoming aware of a data breach.
